The AGM  was held recently in Banada Abbey Hall with a large number in attendance. The club would like to thank all the outgoing officers for their dedication over the last years and look forward to their participation in the future.

The Officers elected for 2002 are as follows: President Tommy Jackson, Patrons Eddie Moran, Eaneas Lundy, Tom Lundy. Chairman Stephen Henry, Vice Chairman Richard Kennedy, Secretary Martin Brennan, Asst. Secretary Patrick Quinn. Treasurer Austin Walshe, PRO Cathy Egan, Insurance Officer Paddy Henry ®. Delegates are: County Board, Stephen Henry and Paddy Henry®, Hurling Board, Martin Brennan, Minor Board, Paddy Henry©, Divisional Board David McVeigh, Banada Abbey Hall, Austin Walshe. Team managers for the year are Senior & Under 21 Neil Egan, Selectors Anthony Brennan and Mattie Brennan. Minor Michael Henry, Selector Paddy Henry©, Under 16 Paddy Henry© Under 14 Anthony Brennan, Under 12  Leo Gaughan Selectors Brendan Walsh, Martin Walsh and Brian Kilcoyne .

At the Hurling AGM the following were elected team managers for the year. Senior: Jerome Quinn, Eamonn Walsh, Martin Brennan Enda Gallagher and  Peter Gallagher, Junior David McVeigh & Willie Kavanagh Under 16 Enda Gallagher & Martin Brennan. Under 14: Adrian Gallagher & David McVeigh, Under 12: Leo Gaughan, Brendan Walsh and Dermot Walsh. The club would like to congratulate Eamonn Walsh on being nominated the “Hurler of the Year”in the local media

At the ladies AGM the following team managers were appointed. Under 12 Therese Walsh, Under 14 Marie O’Hara, Under 16 Austin Walsh and Cathy Egan. It has been decided to hold a meeting of all those players and managers interested in forming a ladies team to compete at Minor and Junior levels. Due to work and other commitments it has been difficult to field teams in these age groups in previous years.  This meeting will be held at a date yet to confirmed.

The club are once again holding a design a crest competition and all entries should be forwarded to Cathy Egan or David McVeigh by Monday February 4th 2002

The monthly meeting will be held in the clubroom on Monday February 4th 2002 at 9:00pm. All members welcome.

The club would like to extend sympathy to the family of Mrs. Nellie Curley, Loch Talt who died recently.

Bingo continues on Tuesdays at 8:30pm with a minimum prize fund of £1100. The in house Lotto continues to grow each week. Please support this fundraiser between Banada Hall Development Committee and Tourlestrane GAA Club. Volunteers are always welcome.

The hurling AGM will be held on this Saturday January 26th at 5:00pm in the Hillary Rooms Banada Abbey Hall. Unfinished business from the football AGM will also be concluded. All members are encouraged to attend.

The ladies football committee are anxious to bring a new impetus into the teams and will be holding their AGM on Thursday January 24 at 9:00pm in the Hillary rooms Banada Abbey Hall. Any new comers are very welcome and may contact Club Officers, Austin Walsh or David McVeigh if they are unable to attend.

A fully accredited first Aid course will be held over the coming weeks in Banada Abbey Community Hall. Team managers and those associated with teams should have knowledge of basic first aid and are encouraged to attend this course. Spaces are limited and those interested should contact 0879674674

Former Tourlestrane player and Ladies team manager Patrick Normanly, has contacted the club on behalf of the Sligo Supporters Association in New York. This association is preparing a programme for the first round of the Connacht Championship, on Sunday May 5, 2002 when Sligo face New York. Advertising space is available to those interested on both sides of the Atlantic. Proceeds from this programme will be returned to the Sligo Supporters Club. The association will also be hosting a Gala Ball after the match and all are welcome. More details to come as the date nears. It is hoped that an Under 14 challenge match might be arranged as a curtain raiser to the senior match. The club would like to congratulate Peter Forde and the Sligo senior team on their historic wins in the FBD League recently. Once again Tourlestrane players Eamonn O’Hara David Durkin and Gerry McGowan contributed greatly to the team’s victories. We wish the team continued success.

Congratulations to former ladies player and trainer Karen Gallagher and Captain Stephen Morgan on their recent marriage. Karen is the daughter of former Tourlestrane Chairman Mickey, and the club wish the couple a lifetime of happiness.

Congratulations also to Tommy Marren who recently celebrated a mile stone birthday. Tommy is a good friend of the club and a regular Bingo assistant.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Margaret Gavigan Stonepark, who died on Friday last.

The club would like to welcome on board our new sponsor Paddy O’Hara of O’Hara’s Seamless Gutters, who will be the senior team sponsor until 2005. Paddy is a long time friend of Tourlestrane, accompanying the club on the trip to Birmingham in 1995. We look forward to a long and prosperous association with Paddy and Co.

At the AGM held on Saturday last a large number of topics were discussed. Due to the constraints of time there will be a further meeting on Saturday January 26, 2002 in the Hillary Rooms Banada Abbey Community Hall at 5:30pm. At 5:00pm in the same venue the hurling meeting will be held. All those interested are encouraged to attend.

The club would like to welcome back Neil Egan as senior team manager. Team selectors are Anthony Brennan, and Mattie Brennan. This team has a vast experience at all levels and are wished the very best by the club.

Congratulations to Tourlestrane minor lady, Sarah Lundy, who recently won the Senior lady player of the Year with Cloonacool GAA Club. Sarah has represented Tourlestrane at all under age levels and has been a regular with the Sligo ladies under age panels.

Congratulations to St. Mary’s GAA Club on their selection as the AIB Sligo Club of the Year.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the Kennedy family Cloonbarry, on the death of Sr. John Baptiste in England. Sincere condolences are also wished to the  McNulty family, Lisheen and O’Hara family, Cloongoonagh, on their recent bereavements.

The AGM will be held on Saturday January 12, 2001 at 5:00pm in the Hillary Rooms Banada Abbey Hall. All members are encouraged to attend.

The very best of luck is wished to former senior selector Tony Carty who has taken up the position of selector with the Sligo Under 21 panel. Congratulations to the team who soundly beat Armagh on Saturday last. Tourlestrane’s Brendan Egan was a member of the team.

A very speedy recovery is wished to senior panellist David Henry who recently under went knee surgery in Dublin.

Deepest sympathy is wished to the families of the late Mrs. Mary Cahill Bunninaden. Sympathy also to Nora McVeigh and family on their recent bereavement
